The state continuing to provide a daily report of the number of cases of COVID-19 versus the number of people that have been tested is meaningless unless additional information is provided. In order to fully understand the impact of the virus, information on the health of the people being tested would provide that next and important level in understanding.
It would be interesting to know how many people that have been tested were tested because they were showing other symptoms of the virus and how many of these people tested positive or negative.
Also interesting would be how many people that were tested that were not showing other symptoms but ended up testing positive.
What it comes down to is that if people test positive and they were showing other symptoms, then the test is really a verification of what was previously suspected. Kind of like turning the knob on a water faucet to see it water comes out. But if people are testing positive that did not show other symptoms, then that is a significant piece of information.
Of course, if you just want to foster fear you keep reporting data as before.
