12:41 a.m. A deputy responded to a domestic disturbance involving a man and a woman in the 23800 block of Road F.4. The man stated he had been in an intimate relationship with the woman for six months, and she has been hitting him. The deputy observed cuts on the man’s arms as he reviewed a video of an altercation, which showed the woman striking him. When the woman was approached, she became hostile and was taken into custody. She was taken to the jail and charged.
2:11 p.m. A green Jeep drove off the highway and struck a fence before driving back onto the highway in the 37100 block of U.S. Highway 160, Mancos. The woman allegedly had given several false names, and her driver’s license had been revoked. A male passenger stated he got into an argument with the woman, and another male passenger threatened him with a knife. The man pulled his own knife and told the other man to put his away. The second man lunged at the other man, causing the driver to “freak out” and drive off the road. He stated that he then got out of the vehicle and the woman drove off, but later came back to pick him up. The other male passenger stated that during an argument between the man and woman, the man grabbed the steering wheel, causing the woman to drive off the road. He denied threatening the other man. The deputy was unable to locate a knife. The woman refused to speak to the deputy and was arrested and given a summons.
Sunday, May 10
12:25 p.m. A deputy responded to a report of a restraining order violation in the 20700 block of Road 19. A woman’s ex-husband was on her property. Dispatch confirmed the woman had a protection order against the man. The woman reported that her ex-husband was in a barn behind the house. He was taken into custody. A breath test revealed he was intoxicated, so he was taken to the hospital for medical clearance before being taken to the jail and charged.
7:08 p.m. A deputy contacted a gray Nissan Sentra with no license plate in the 10200 block of U.S. Highway 491. The female driver stated she was still in the process of registering the vehicle and obtaining insurance, but did provide proof of purchase and VIN inspection forms. The same woman had also been contacted May 4 for driving without a license in an unregistered vehicle. She was told to park the vehicle until it was registered and insured. She was cited and released.
Monday, May 11
9:05 a.m. Three chainsaws were taken from a woman’s unlocked shed in the 17000 block of Road 30. She stated the chainsaws were last seen May 5. She provided a serial number for one saw. The deputy planned to check pawn shops and online sales for leads.
10:05 a.m. Smoke and a possible fire were reported in the 24800 block of Road L. When the deputy arrived, the fire department was on scene working to control an active fire. The fire chief was speaking to a man and later told the deputy that the fire department had responded to a similar fire the year before involving the same man, and that the man had not called the fire department prior to starting the fire. When questioned, the man said it was meant to be a small fire and he had not contacted the fire department. He also admitted to burning a tire in the fire. The man was issued a summons.
2:16 p.m. A cellphone was found near mile marker 17 of Highway 145. The owner could not be identified. The phone was booked as found property.
Tuesday, May 12
5:27 p.m. A suspicious vehicle in a field was reported in the 18000 block of Road Z. As the deputy approached the area, a gold Ford Fusion covered in mud was observed heading south on Road 18. It turned onto Highway 491 and the deputy continued to the field. The man who had reported the vehicle was contacted upon arrival and he confirmed the vehicle the deputy had seen was the one he had reported. The deputy located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The male driver was contacted and dispatched confirmed his driver’s license had been revoked for vehicular assault. The man was issued a summons and released.
