10:19 a.m. Several officers responded to a disturbance between a common law husband and wife in the 1400 block of North Mildred Road. The woman stated she feared the man, in part because of firearms in the home, and a victim’s advocate was requested. The husband denied that he assaulted the woman. No further action was taken.
Thursday, May 7
9:48 a.m. A blue Subaru Forester hit a retaining fence and hung over a wall in the 1300 block of North Mildred Road. The brick wall and metal fencing were broken, and the Subaru had severe front-end damage. The female driver stated that her foot had slipped while driving into the parking lot and “she just kept going.” She wasn’t sure why the car didn’t stop and stated she had only had it for six days. The scene was documented and the vehicle was towed.
10:30 a.m. A neighbor reported the sound of breaking glass at trailer in the 600 block of South Washington Street. The property manager stated he had seen a man enter the trailer with the female occupant. The officer reported no one was inside, and the furniture and TV had been thrown around, and several windows were broken. The officer asked the property manager to call if he saw the woman or man.
3:13 p.m. A former female employee of a long-term care facility was reportedly kicking a door in the 600 block of Cottonwood Street. An officer d observed the woman arguing with an employee. Officers handcuffed and took her to the hospital to be evaluated. The facility director said the woman had walked off the job in January. The director was advised to get a protection order. The woman was issued a summons and at the hospital.
5:12 p.m. An officer responding to a disturbance in the area of Seventh Street and Chestnut Street found a woman standing next to an overturned shopping cart with personal items on the ground. A man was pushing a lawnmower. The woman said the two argued about the cart tipping over as they transported their belongings to a house. The man became agitated when questioned, but denied harming the woman. Two witnesses reported an altercation. The man was issued a summons and taken to the jail.
7:40 p.m. A woman reported identity theft in the in the 2300 block of Highway 135. She had canceled her cable account but believed her ex-husband reopened it in her name. She faced a bill for the unpaid amount and the cost of a missing cable box. The officer contacted the ex-husband, who said he hadn’t restarted the cable service, but would see if the cable box was in his storage unit.
8:16 p.m. A break-in was reported at a storage facility in the 1200 block of East Main Street.
Friday, May 8
7:45 p.m. An officer conducted a welfare check on a man lying on a sidewalk on a grocery store’s property in the 1500 block of East Main Street. He left the property, but an employee said he later entered the store and stole several deli items. The man admitted to consuming alcohol but denied stealing anything. Another officer found the stolen items near the sidewalk where the man initially was found. The man was taken to the hospital for intoxication and then to jail, where he was issued a summons.
Saturday, May 9
2:18 a.m. An attempted robbery was reported in the 500 block of South Madison Street. A man with a black shirt and green lettering approached two women in a car and said he had a gun. He then asked for a cigarette. The woman gave him one and attempted to roll up the window, but the man held the window open and said he would break it. The woman saw a gun in his waistband, and as one woman tried to call 911, the man grabbed her hair with one hand and took the phone with the other, and then ran off. A woman chased him and pushed him down when she caught up to him. Officers pursued the man and apprehended him. No gun was located. The man was taken to the hospital for intoxication, and then to jail, where he was charged.
6:30 p.m. A neighbor reportedly was hitting the windows of a woman’s apartment in the 500 block of South Madison Street. The woman stated he was banging on the door because his wife was in her apartment and he wanted a bottle of alcohol from her. The wife stated she did not want her husband to return. The man was found intoxicated at home with two teenage children. His wife also admitted to drinking despite an order barring her from possessing or consuming alcohol. She was taken into custody, and the children were released to the neighbor. Social services was notified.
Sunday, May 10
3:20 p.m. A vehicle sought in a Utah shooting reportedly hit something in the alley of the fire station in the 30 block of North Washington Street. An officer initiated a traffic stop. The driver appeared highly intoxicated, but denied hitting anything with his truck. Passengers confirmed the driver had hit a dip in the alley and something fell off the truck. The man performed roadside maneuvers unsatisfactorily, and a search produced marijuana and several containers of alcohol. The man was taken to the hospital for medical clearance, then to jail, where he was issued a summons.
Monday, May 11
9:57 a.m. An officer confiscated a counterfeit $10 bill, which a customer had taken to a bank in the 2200 block of East Main Street.
7:23 p.m. A man turned a found purse into the police department, 608 N. Park St., and stated it had been left at City Park. An officer was unable to contact the owner.
Tuesday, May 12
12:47 p.m. A woman reported the wife of a man she was dating had made harassing phone calls and text messages to her and posted things about her on Facebook. The officer interviewed the wife, who denied texting the woman. She admitted posting a phone number on Facebook and asking if anyone knew who the number belonged to. She said she deleted the post two days later.
