Tuesday, March 10

3:15 p.m. An officer arrested a man at City Market, 508 E. Main St., on suspicion of possessing or consuming alcohol while having a mandatory protection order against possessing or consuming alcohol. The man was transported to the hospital and medically cleared before being transported to the jail.

4:20 p.m. An officer took a man into custody in the 400 block of E. Montezuma Avenue after being advised by dispatch that the man had an active warrant. The man was transported to the detention center.

8:44 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the jail to serve a warrant to a man who was turning himself in.

Wednesday, March 11

9:08 a.m. An officer was dispatched to Montezuma County Combined Courts for a remand. The man was transported to the jail and served a warrant.

3:02 p.m. An officer was dispatched to a vehicle accident with no injuries on private property in the area of South Broadway. A semitrailer struck a garbage truck while backing up.

9:56 p.m. An officer was dispatched to City Market, 508 E. Main St., for a call of a highly intoxicated man yelling at cars on the road. The man was found lying in the road in the 10 block of North Harrison Street and was transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital. He was cited for disturbing the peace and intoxicated pedestrian and left in the care of the ER staff.

Friday, March 13

11:43 a.m. An officer was dispatched to Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., for a report of a subject with a warrant in the store. A bail bondsman took the man into custody before the officer arrived. The man was transported to the detention center and served with two active warrants.

Friday, March 13

8:35 p.m. An officer responded to a report of an intoxicated man lying in the grass at the north end of the Walmart parking lot. The man was taken into custody and transported to the ER for medical clearance. After being cleared, the man was transported to the jail and served with a summons.

Friday, March 13

8:56 p.m. An officer conducted a welfare check on a man in the area of the Duck Pond, 515 N. Mildred Road, and observed an open alcohol container on a picnic table. Dispatch confirmed the man had a protection order and bond condition against consuming alcohol. The man was taken into custody and transported to the hospital for medical clearance. After being cleared he was transported to the jail.

Saturday, March 14

1 a.m. An officer contacted a man with an active warrant in the 600 block of South Broadway. The man was taken into custody and transported to the detention center and served with a warrant.

10:10 a.m. An officer was dispatched to the 800 block of South Broadway for an unwanted person who had an active warrant. The man was taken into custody and transported to the jail, where he was served with a warrant and trespass notice.

11:32 a.m. An officer was dispatched to the jail to serve a warrant to a man already in custody.

6:04 a.m. An officer initiated a traffic stop with a male driver with an active warrant. The man was taken into custody and transported to the detention center, where he was served with a warrant.

10:21 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the jail to serve an in-custody warrant to a man already in custody.

Sunday, March 15

6:06 a.m. An officer made contact with a man with five active warrants in the area of Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St. The officer noticed a strong odor of alcohol and located a container of alcohol during a search. Dispatch confirmed the man had a protection order against possessing or consuming alcohol. The man was taken into custody and transported to the jail, where he was served with five warrants and a summons.

9:25 p.m. Two officers were dispatched to Walmart for a woman trespassing. The woman and a man with her were issued summons and asked not to return to the property.

Monday, March 16

4:11 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the 400 block of East Main Street for a report of DUI. The officer followed the vehicle and observed it speeding and weaving. The officer contacted the vehicle in the 800 block of South Broadway and the driver voluntarily performed roadside maneuvers. The man was taken into custody for DUI and transported to the jail where he was booked.

2:22 p.m. An officer was dispatched to City Market, 508 E. Main St., for a report of shoplifting and trespass. The man could not be located, but surveillance footage was shown to the officer. The man was located on Tuesday and issued a summons for trespassing and shoplifting.

Tuesday, March 17

5:12 a.m. An officer was dispatched to make contact with a man at the entrance of the Cortez Police Department, 608 N. Park St., who wanted to know if he had any active warrants. Dispatched confirmed the man had an active warrant and the man was taken into custody and transported to the jail.

3:37 p.m. An officer was dispatched to serve a warrant on a man at the bonding window of the Montezuma County Detention Center. The man was taken into custody and served with a warrant before being left in the custody of detention personnel.

8:42 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the 600 block of East Montezuma Avenue for a welfare check on a man lying in the grass who appeared to be highly intoxicated. Medics checked the man and transported him to the hospital. Dispatch confirmed the man had an active warrant and pretrial bond conditions. After being medically cleared, the man was transported to the jail and served with a warrant and summons.
