The Journal staff is working all hours throughout the Four Corners to bring you the stories that inform you about the coronavirus pandemic.

Our staff writers are on the ground in Southwest Colorado, New Mexico and Washington, D.C., to bring you essential information from our neighborhoods, schools and decision-makers.

We’re working remotely and from our office on Main Street at increased cost and in a challenging environment to deliver the news at the-journal.com as it happens. And we’re restocking newspaper racks to meet the demand for information.

We may practice “social distancing,” but we remain socially connected. And we know that you do, too.

We worry about our families, friends and about the future of our town and country. Then we go back to work.

These are extraordinary times.

Because of demand for critical information, The Journal will share critical coverage about the coronavirus pandemic for free online, beginning today.

We encourage new visitors to stick around for a while. For less than $5 a month, you can sign up online or call for 970-375-4520 for complete access to the-journal.com.

We thank our advertisers and subscribers, whose support make local news coverage possible. Through the years, you’ve supported local journalism through wildfires, recessions and wars.

This crisis will end. Students will return to school, churches will open their doors, friends will return to work, and you’ll enjoy a nice meal out again. We’ll be there for that, too.

Stay safe.
