I am writing in support of Chad Wheelus for mayor of Dolores.
I recently attended three events in Dolores in which he had a role: the community forum that provided voters information on the upcoming town ballot initiatives, a regular Town Board meeting, and the candidate forum.
In each of these situations, Mayor Wheelus conducted himself in a professional and respectful manner. He facilitated the ballot forum without favoring any one person or position – an admirable trait in these polarized times.
At the Town Board meeting he was clearly competent, well informed and capable – demonstrating an efficiency welcome in the management of town bureaucracy.
Finally, what I appreciated about Mayor Wheelus’ presentation at the candidate forum is that he was clearly not there to push his own agenda. He stated that as a public servant, his motive was to serve, and that his priority was to carry out the will of the citizenry.
Wheelus is articulate, intelligent and a devoted public servant who has occupied the position for two years already. He said during his tenure as mayor that the town has had a turnover of four different town managers, and finally has a good working team.
Why make a change and elect another new – and unknown – person when the incumbent is clearly doing an excellent job?
Keep Chad Wheelus as Dolores mayor!
