Monday, Dec. 16
An officer responded to the Social Services office to assist on a home visit. Upon arrival he observed a male exit his vehicle and walk to the entry door of the social service office. The officer entered the office and observed the man talking with a social service worker in a loud, upset manner. The man was asked several times by the woman to calm down and let her speak so she could explain what was going on with his case. The man said he was not going to calm down. The officer asked the man to calm down so the social service worker could explain what was going or he needed to leave and come back after he calmed down. The man asked the officer, “What are you going to do about it”? the officer advised the man that if he did not calm down or leave that he would place his under arrest. The man said, “Then do it!” At that time the officer asked the man to turn around and place his arms behind his back, which he did. The officer arrested the man and charged him with obstruction of government operations.
Monday, Dec. 16
While traveling eastbound on 7th St. in Cortez an officer observed a Chevrolet Silverado’s windshield was broken and had a large rock chip obstructing the driver’s vision. The officer contacted the driver and had dispatch check the occupants for warrants. Dispatch advised that the driver of the vehicle had a warrant and she was placed under arrest.
Tuesday, Dec. 17
An officer was asked to call a man in reference to a stolen pistol. The officer called the man who said he left his truck parked at his work because it was broke down. He said when he returned to get the truck that his HiPoint 9mm pistol was taken from the center console. He also said he had two DeWalt Drills in a hard plastic case taken from the vehicle. The man stated that he thinks one of his coworkers might have taken the items. The man said while they were working his coworker went to get a pencil and noticed the pistol in the center console. The man said after he noticed the postil is coworker commented on how he wanted to get a HiPoint and that he liked the pistol. The officer tried to contact the man’s coworker at his last known address listed. The officer will be doing a follow-up and try to contact the coworker in reference to the case.
Wednesday, Dec. 18
Dispatch advised an officer that a female had called and said a male was operating a white Chevy Malibu and that he had a warrant and had been drinking. While patrolling in the 600 block of Hwy 160 the officer observed a white Chevy Malibu traveling southbound. The officer initiated a traffic stop and explained the reason for puling the driver over. While speaking with the driver the officer could smell an unknown alcoholic beverage coming from his breath and the man admitted to drinking three or four beers. The man refused to perform roadside maneuvers but since he had a warrant he was placed under arrest. The man asked if he could take a portable breath test, which was .080. The man was charged with a DUI and DUI Per Se.
Wednesday, Dec. 18
An officer spoke with a woman regarding unlawful use of a credit card. The woman advised that she had been reviewing her credit card bill and found there were some unauthorized charges. She said payments were made to Dish Network on Nov. 13 and another payment on Nov. 24. The woman said she contacted Dish Network who advised she would need to contact her local police agency who in turn would need to submit court order to obtain account information. The woman said she does not have Dish Network. The officer advised the woman to get a copy of her credit report to determine if there are any other accounts opened in her name. The officer contacted Dish Networks fraud department who advised him that he would need to submit a court order to obtain account information. The case is open and active pending obtaining a search warrant.
