I have been surprised at some of the state of Colorado’s actions surrounding the Red Arrow Mine and the news coverage about them. I used to think local governments were supposed to support their local businesses, but the actions taken by the state of Colorado seem to have proven that wrong. I don’t really understand why the state of Colorado is so eager to help a billion-dollar New York hedge fund company to seize a local mine and destroy the reputations of the local owners but that certainly seems to be the case. Maybe you just have to follow the money. Now, the aforementioned New York hedge fund is attempting to profit by selling the mine to an Australian company — this after the rightful owners’ 25 years of hard work has been slandered. That doesn’t seem like the kind of thing our government should be for, but maybe that’s just another “new normal.”
