I’ll be praying for those who bash Trump

In recent letters to the editor, Americans (note: I did not say Republican, Democrat or independent) who support President Donald Trump have been strongly criticized as if “they are looking through rose- or should I say orange-colored glasses” as well as the “formerly righteous Republican Party.” And if those same Americans don’t “bow to his will or worship the ground he walks on, he won’t hesitate to throw them under the bus.”

The above quotes, along with “Trump and his neo-Nazis,” “No true Christian should support the Trump people,” “These hypocrites” from another letter, go on and on with the bashing of President Trump, his family, Republican senators and anyone else who doesn’t feel as they feel.

The First Amendment guarantees freedom of speech; I support that right without reservation, however, when thousands of fellow Americans are called “formerly righteous,” “neo-Nazis,” “no true Christian” and “hypocrite” from those that do not have the same feelings about the First Amendment as I do, then I dismiss their opinions with disgust!

I have always been proud to be an American. I stand whenever the national anthem is played, salute when the flag of the United States passes, tear up whenever I hear the song “God Bless America” and pray to God that I always will.

Sorrowfully, those feelings are being strongly tested because during my lifetime, I have never seen my country so divided by such raw hatred.

I will pray for those misguided souls who are so judgmental about Americans who don’t share the same ideals as themselves.
