Coming off a 1-19 season, the Montezuma-Cortez High School Panthers girls basketball team knew that this year might not be easy.

They might not have expected things to be quite as hard as they have been however.

Playing their third game of the season on the road against Shiprock on Dec. 5, the Panthers struggled mightily, falling 65-13 on a night where baskets were few and far between.

Looking slightly better in the second round of the Shiprock tournament, the Panthers matched up against Farmington later on Dec. 6 and after four hard fought quarters, found themselves on the wrong end of a 56-33 final score.

With the losses, the Panthers fell to 0-3 on the year.

After matching up at home against Farmington on Dec. 9, the Panthers will travel to Farmington to face Piedra Vista High School on Dec. 12.
