Hang tight to see Obamacare succeed

Too many people are amused that President Obama has rejected any attempts to modify Obamacare under, first the threat of, and then, the actual government shutdown. I gotta ask. What’s so funny? The Affordable Care Act of 2010 passed by two houses of Congress after 14 months of debate and was signed into law by the president March 23, 2010. Opponents then challenged the law’s constitutionality and lost that battle in the Supreme Court of the United States in June 2012 (essentially ruling the mandate was a tax and not a penalty). So instead of obeying the law of the land, a fraction of one party hijacks our democratic institutions. Think that is not the case? October 1st 2013, the government shuts down because House Rule 368 is born.

I’d ask people to visit YouTube’s “The GOP’s little rule change they hoped you wouldn’t notice.” If you find dumb things funny, you are going to love it. Defunding a law is not compromise. Postpone? It has been 2 1/2 years. Modify? What the heck was the 14 months of debate all about? Hang tight, America.

We will get through this and be stronger for it.
