Durango’s main tourist attraction will be featured in a new IMAX movie in February.

Those who have never experienced a ride on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad can at least get a sense of the majesty through a new IMAX movie that features the historic railroad.

“Into America’s Wild” takes viewers across the country for an inside look at the “hidden wonders of the natural world,” according to the movie’s website. It is produced by MacGillivray Freeman Films, which also put out “National Parks Adventure.”

“Into America’s Wild” sweeps through the coast of Oregon, the wilds of Alaska and the canyons of the Southwest.

And yes, through the San Juan Mountains via Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad.

“This is absolutely amazing, and of course, all of us here at the #DurangoTrain are incredibly honored!” the railroad posted to social media.

The release for “Into America’s Wild” is scheduled for February, but a date has not been set.
