Fresh off stellar individual seasons in which they helped lead the Dove Creek Bulldogs volleyball team to 26-1 record, Shelbie Knuckles and Madison Young have been selected to participate in the Colorado Coaches Girls’ Sports (CCGS) All-State Volleyball Games.

Eighteen senior volleyball players from each classification are selected to participate in the games based on their talent, dedication and team leadership.

During the 2013 season, Knuckles led the Bulldogs with 411 kills while also recording 46 aces, and a team high 308 digs.

Young was equally impressive during the 2013 campaign, recording 142 kills, 48 aces and a team high 605 assists.

In addition to their athletic accomplishments, both Knuckles and Young produce outstanding work in the classroom. Knuckles currently carries a 4.0 GPA.

Speaking about the excitement that she felt upon learning of her selection to the all-state game, Shelbie Knuckles stated, “My dad called me and told me congratulations. I was very excited.”

Adding to Knuckles excitement was the fact that Bulldogs’ head coach Scott Knuckles was selected to coach in the games.

“He gets to coach me one more time,” said Shelbie Knuckles.
