Friday, Dec. 20

11:47 a.m. A deputy was dispatched to the lobby of the Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office, 730 E. Driscoll St., to take a report concerning a suspected fraud. The daughter of a man reported a possibly fraudulent computer message to her father. The message asked him to change his password and gave him a contact number for advice. The father contacted the number and a support person directed him to send money via a credit card to fix computer issues. The father purchased several pay cards and sent money to resolve the issues. The daughter estimated the man had purchased $7,100 in pay cards in an attempt to deal with the issue. The deputy forwarded the report of the suspected fraud to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

2:06 p.m. A deputy was dispatched to the Dolores School Transportation school bus barn, 17631 Colorado Highway 145, about damaged buses. The officials requested a trespass notice be issued to a man school officials suspected of cutting tires on two buses. The suspect was issued a trespass notice barring him from school property.

9:12 p.m. A deputy was dispatched to Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., to issue an active warrant to a male inmate.

Monday, Dec. 23

4:12 p.m. A deputy was dispatched to the 12600 block of U.S. Highway 491 about a man with a gun. A deputy took a report about a dispute between an employee at Able Towing and a man who came to pick up his towed vehicle. The employee reportedly pointed a firearm at the ground during the heated confrontation. Neither man wanted to press charges. The deputy filed a report.

Wednesday, Dec. 25

10:11 a.m. A deputy filed a report about a woman who had slid of a private driveway near a bridge and the car ended up upside down off the driveway. The woman was not hurt. The deputy filed a report for insurance purposes.

Thursday, Dec. 26

1:31 p.m. A deputy was dispatched to Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., to issue an active warrant to a female inmate.

Saturday, Dec. 28

6:40 p.m. A deputy was called to the 1500 block of Taylor Street in Cortez about a harassment report. Neighbors were having a dispute about laser lights being shined through windows. One woman had an active warrant. She was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Sunday, Dec. 29

2:21 p.m. A deputy was called to Uptown Plaza, 18396 Colorado Highway 145 in Dolores on a welfare check. The woman was fine, but she had an active warrant out of El Paso County for failing to appear. She was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Monday, Dec. 30

8:50 a.m. A deputy was dispatched to Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 Driscoll St., to issue three active warrants to a male inmate.

Tuesday, Dec. 31

9:44 a.m. A deputy was dispatched to Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., to remand a man into custody. The man was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Wednesday, Jan. 1

3:17 a.m. A deputy was dispatched to the 17000 block of County Road S to a aid a woman whose car was stuck in snow. The deputy observed two women exchange seats in the car without getting out of the car. A Colorado State Patrol trooper arrived and gave a woman a field sobriety test. The woman failed and was arrested for driving while intoxicated. She was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

1:23 p.m. A deputy was called to the 25000 block of County Road 38.1 near Dolores about a vicious dog. A woman said on a walk with her dogs from her home, a neighbor’s German shepherd ran up to her and attempted to bite her two or three times. It was the second report on the dog in three months. The deputy stated he would serve the dog’s owner with a summons for failure to control a vicious dog.

Thursday, Jan. 2

2:49 p.m. A deputy was dispatched to Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., to issue an active warrant to a man. The man was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

8:46 p.m. A deputy assisted a trooper in the 17400 block of County Road 18 near Cortez to locate a suspect involved in the theft of a vehicle from a home in which the residents were out of town. The deputy and the trooper failed to locate the suspect.
