Tuesday, Dec. 31

2:22 p.m. An officer was dispatched to City Market, 508 E. Main St., for a reported theft. A woman was arrested after witnesses reported seeing her leave the store with a case of beer. She was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Wednesday, Jan. 1

2:11 a.m. An officer responded to the 500 block of South Madison Street after a woman refused to leave an apartment. The woman was arrested on an active warrant and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

5:31 a.m. An officer was dispatched to the Handy Mart, 806 S. Broadway, about a report of a trespasser. A woman was arrested for violating a trespass notice and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

3:39 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the 200 block of East Seventh Street about a verbal disturbance. One man was arrested for an active warrant and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

4:08 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the Sleeping Ute Apartments, 516 S. Madison St., about a fight. A brother and a sister were involved in an argument. The man was arrested on an outstanding warrant and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Thursday, Jan 2

10:08 a.m. An officer was dispatched to the First Street Car Wash, 21 S. Harrison St., about a report of property damage. The officer filed a report about damage to a metal coin machine. The damage was believed to have occurred on New Year’s Day.

1:53 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the area of North Park Street after a man with an active warrant was recognized. The man was arrested on a warrant for possession illicit drugs and was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

2:42 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., to serve an active warrant to a male inmate.

4:41 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the intersection of East Main Street and the East Y about a traffic accident. The officer cited a driver for making a left turn in front of traffic.

6:22 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., to arrest a woman wanted on an active warrant for criminal mischief. The officer also served another active warrant to the woman and left her in custody of the jail.

9:09 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., about a shoplifting in progress. An employee pointed out a man whom he believed had shoplifted an LED flashlight. The man could not provide a receipt for the flashlight, and was cited for shoplifting and issued a trespass notice that banned him from Walmart.

9:32 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the Cozy Inn, 440 S. Broadway, about a man trying to get into another man’s room. The man was arrested on an active warrant and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Friday, Jan 3

7:18 a.m. An officer was dispatched to McDonald’s, 1322 E. Main St., about a woman who was trespassing. The woman was located at Safeway and issued a summons for trespassing.

9:30 a.m. An officer was dispatched to Walgreen’s, 1671 E. Main St., about a traffic crash involving Pepsi and Coca-Cola delivery trucks. The driver of the Coca-Cola truck was trying to leave the parking lot when he struck the Pepsi truck, which was entering the parking lot. Both trucks sustained slight damage. The officer filed a report but didn’t issue a summons to either driver.

9:53 a.m. An officer was dispatched to Safeway about a report of a shoplifting. An employee had taken a photograph of a gray pickup truck with a New Mexico license plate in which a man suspected of stealing a shopping cart full of beer left the parking lot. The officer filed a report and notified other law officers to watch for the vehicle.

1:26 p.m. An officer was dispatched to take a report of two break-ins in the 500 block of South Beach Street. A woman reported change and documents were taken from a red Suburban and gray Land Rover. The officer filed a report.

4:50 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the Cortez Police Department lobby to take a report from a man who said an $850 personal check from a stolen checkbook had been cashed. The officer filed a report.

Saturday, Jan 4

11:43 a.m. An officer was dispatched to 22 S. Beech St. about a reported hit-and-run. A woman reported damage to her Toyota 4Runner. She believed the damage had occurred the previous day when her 4Runner was parked on the east side of Blondie’s Trophy Room. The officer filed a report.

7:55 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Centennial Park, 800 E. Montezuma Ave., about a man who was yelling. The man had an active warrant. He was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Sunday, Jan. 5

9:51 p.m. An officer was called to TravelLodge, 1120 E. Main St., to issue an active warrant to a woman. The woman was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Monday, Jan. 6

5:08 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Cork and Bottle, 443 E. Main St., about a shoplifting. An uncooperative suspect was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting and trespassing and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

6:09 p.m. An officer was westbound in the 1600 block of East Main Street when he observed a car with a headlight out. The driver had an active warrant. He was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

6:35 p.m. An officer dispatched to the 200 block of South Market Street arrested a man on suspicion of being intoxicated in the road. After medical clearance at Southwest Memorial Hospital, the man was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

6:44 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Montezuma County Detention Center to arrest a woman on an active warrant. The woman was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

8:54 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., to issue two active warrants to a female inmate.

Tuesday, Jan, 7

3:53 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., to arrest a man turning himself in on an active warrant. The man was arrested and left in custody of the jail.

6:59 p.m. An officer was dispatched to City Market, 508 E. Main St., to take a man to The Bridge shelter because the man did not where it was located. The man had an active warrant out of Farmington. He was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
