Wednesday, Dec. 18

10:53 a.m. An officer dispatched to Walmart, 1835 Main St., about a reported trespassing located the suspect at Dollar Tree and cited her for violating a trespass notice.

1:13 p.m. An officer dispatched to the 600 block of East Montezuma Avenue about an intoxicated man arrested him for violating two protection orders banning the consumption of alcohol. He was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

11:14 p.m. An officer served an active warrant to a man at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

Thursday, Dec. 19

12:55 a.m. An officer patrolling in the 600 block of South Oak Street recognized a man with active warrants. The man was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

2:27 a.m. An officer was dispatched to Russell Cellular, 1425 E. Main St., about a reported theft. The manager stated that eight cellphones were missing. The officer is investigating.

Friday, Dec. 20

12:19 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the parking lot at 17 S. Broadway to take a report of a minor traffic accident.

3:53 p.m. An officer was notified by the Montezuma County District Attorney’s office about a man who was violating a restraining order. The man was located in the parking lot of City Market, 508 E. Main St. He was intoxicated and was issued a summons and arrested for violating a protection order banning the consumption of alcohol. After being medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital, he was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

4:42 p.m. An officer was dispatched to a reported fight at the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St. Two intoxicated men who had blood on their clothes were arrested for violating a no-alcohol protection order and were left in the custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Saturday, Dec. 21

1:18 a.m. An officer was patrolling in the initial block of North Broadway when he saw a suspicious man walking eastbound. The man was known to the officer and had a active warrant. When searched, the man appeared to have a plastic bag containing meth. He was arrested on two active warrants and placed on a felony hold for possession of an unlawful narcotic and was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

2:39 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the initial block of South Maple Street about a traffic collision. A woman said a man driving a truck struck her car while he was trying to turn into the Notah Dineh Trading Co. parking lot. After talking with a witness, the man was issued a summons for failing to provide proof of insurance and failure to drive in a single lane.

8:19 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., about a reported theft. A woman had left her checkout station momentarily to help her elderly mother, who was having difficulties at another checkout station. Meanwhile, another woman went to the checkout station, scanned her items and left with all the items at the checkout station. A surveillance video was shown to the officer. The officer is investigating to determine the identification of the woman who left with bag of items that did not belong to her.

Sunday, Dec. 22

3:13 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., about a man with a misdemeanor attempting to purchase a firearm. The man was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

2:46 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Family Dollar, 324, S. Broadway, about a reported shoplifting. A man was arrested after being found with $17.54 worth of items from the store with no receipt. The man also was discovered to have two bags of meth with him. The man attempted to flee, but was apprehended by officers. The man was arrested for unlawful possession of a narcotic and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center. The two bags of meth were placed in evidence for safekeeping.

9:12 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., about a man who was taking his clothes off. The man was violating a trespass notice for the store. He was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Monday, Dec. 23

4:11 a.m. An officer was dispatched to Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., to arrest a man who was turning himself in on an active warrant.
