The Montezuma County Hospital District board is asking the voters to remove the state law restrictions which prevent it from applying for large state grants. The Department of Local Affairs grants come from oil and gas severance tax, and are available to small rural hospitals. Referendum 5D MCHD would remove these restrictions.
Referendum 5D MCHD does NOT raise taxes. If in the future a mill levy increase should become necessary, voters would still be required to vote for an increase. Grant monies would be used to upgrade the facility and medical equipment at Southwest Memorial Hospital.
Referendum 5D MCHD, the last question on the ballot, benefits the citizens of Montezuma County.
