Having served on public school boards myself, I recommend election of Bob Waggoner this fall because I am sure you will be pleased if you vote to have him continue his position on the Cortez RE-1 board.
Based on his extensive educational experience, Bob was named to fill a vacancy on the school board more than a year ago. He has been intimately involved in daily activities of the board ever since. He has also been enthusiastically involved in planning the new high school during this critical period, and has given the board important leadership in reducing energy costs.
Bob Waggoner has two of the most important attributes required for being an effective board member. The first is Bob’s familiarity with all aspects of education, and the second is his demonstrated willingness to work hard on the job. Campaigning for office can be fun, but the hard work really starts after you get elected. Knowing Bob well, I assure you that he works hard at whatever he does.
He started his professional experience in education by teaching physics and math, and has also directed a junior-high and even a university band.
Later he expanded to wilderness education and to an international alternative school. More recently he has used his skills as an inventor and computer expert to establish his own businesses.
This wide range of positive qualities has already made Bob a real asset to the school board. In a larger sense, they also make him a role model for students with entrepreneurial and wilderness interests; vital qualities for living in Montezuma County. A vote for Bob Waggoner is a vote for better schools.
