The Cortez Fire Protection District needs our help to maintain and improve emergency services for all of us who live, work and/or own property in the district. We can help by voting for the small mill-levy increase requested on this year’s election ballot. The firefighters do a terrific job of trying to help us in our most vulnerable moments. For example, recently they had 14 calls in one day. While they were fighting two house fires, they received at least two other calls and managed to deal with everything. However, some of their equipment and gear doesn’t meet current standards for firefighters. This is a potential threat to our safety and theirs.
If our house is on fire, we want them to come as quickly as possible with the most effective tools to fight the fire. If we are trapped in a vehicle after a crash, we want to be removed rapidly and safely. Please help our firefighters and our community by voting yes.
