The Montezuma Food Coalition was recently approved by the state of Colorado as an Enterprise Zone contribution project. This designation coincides with the launch of a capital campaign for The Sharehouse and entitles donors to a state tax credit of 25% of cash donations and 12.5% of in-kind donations through 2024. The Sharehouse is a 501(c)(3) project of the Montezuma Food Coalition under the fiscal sponsorship of Onward! A Legacy Foundation.

Currently in the planning and fundraising stage, the buildout, funded with Enterprise Zone monies, will be housed in the adjacent 4,000-square-foot warehouse, which is currently raw space with minimal improvements. The Montezuma Food Coalition holds a lease on this space, as well as 2,000 square feet of improved space in the same building, which is the location of the pilot project. With the development of the following infrastructure, The Sharehouse will become a hub of activity supporting a regional food system.

Donations to the Montezuma Food Coalition/The Sharehouse Capital Campaign can be made online at bit.ly/onwardfoundation. A minimum donation of $250 is required by Dec. 31 to receive tax credit for 2019.

To participate in Colorado Gives Day, donate by Dec. 10 online at www.coloradogives.org/MontezumaFoodCoalition.
