A look at homecoming week for local schools

Homecoming week is more than just a football game; it is a family gathering and community-building extravaganza. Homecoming offers a unique opportunity to come together as a community and show support for all of the outstanding youths who represent our towns every day with pride. Homecoming covers generations of families. It is a feeling, an honored tradition.

Cortez Homecoming

Watch the boys play volleyball at the "Peach Fuzz" game at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25., and then you won't want to miss the girls playing football at the "Powder Puff" game at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26. Take part in the Homecoming Parade beginning at 3:15 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at Notah Dineh. This year's theme is a "Night at the Movies." Decorate in Disney, sci-fi, action, thriller, etc. It's free. Call the high school at 565-3722 to enter.

The Cortez High School football team meets the Steamboat Springs Pirates at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28.

Dolores Homecoming

Support the girls volleyball team at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, before putting together your float for the Homecoming Parade that starts at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4. Dolores High School's football team will battle the Center High School Vikings at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4.
