Frances Horvath and her youngest son have kept bees for the past four years and have been selling honey for the last three as Horvath Honey.
“It’s really tasty,” she said.
Horvath is based on the dry side of the county, west of Cherry Creek, but her bees cover a wide area.
“We have all of our hives out from Breen down to the state line – even some into New Mexico,” she said.
This season at the Durango Farmers Market, Horvath can be found sharing the Isgar Farms booth.
As for her product, it’s pretty simple: raw, unfiltered honey.
“It is totally all honey,” she said. “It’s not adulterated. Local, natural, organic. I don’t know where my bees go ... but I try to stay away from chemicals and all that stuff.”
