While I sincerely want our teachers to receive an adequate wage, I am certain that the way the school district wants to accomplish it will definitely not work to the benefit of the teachers and taxpayers and is most definitely not “for our kids.”
Groceries, rent and other business services must increase to pay the new and uncontrollable tax increases, which will increase the cost of living for everyone. What then happens to the raise which, if equally distributed among the schedules, won’t be that much after all?
Where do those of us who will pay the tax increase go to get a raise?
And so the cycle of taking from the least able to give to the most able continues.
It should not be that hard, if teachers’ salaries are that important, for the district to prioritize to that end. Maybe have to make some hard choices. Teachers and staff could do the same – after all, they volunteered for the job at the current wage schedule.
Vote No on 4A.
