Wednesday, Sept. 25
5:36 a.m. An officer was dispatched to the Best Western Hotel, 535 E. Main St., about unwanted persons on the premises. Two women and a man who weren’t staying at the hotel served themselves from the breakfast bar and did not pay. They were asked to leave, but bothered people behind the hotel. The three suspects were issued summons for taking food without paying for it, and each was issued a trespass notice to stay off the property.
2:01 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the Salvation Army, 201 Piñon Drive, to take a report about a minor traffic accident. Two vehicles had collided in the parking lot. The drivers exchanged information about their insurance.
2:43 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Montezuma County Combined Courts to issue an active warrant to woman. The woman was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
Thursday, Sept. 26
1:18 a.m. An officer was patrolling on South Mildred Street when he witnessed a car stopped for a prolonged time at a stop sign. The officer stopped the car in the 700 block of Third Street. The driver declined to perform roadside sobriety checks or a breath-analysis test. The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI. He was cited for DUI, failing to signal 100 feet before a turn, failing to present proof of insurance. The man was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
7:57 a.m. An officer was dispatched to Safeway, 1580 Main St., about a minor traffic accident in the parking lot.
10:55 a.m. An officer was on patrol in Centennial Park, 800 E. Montezuma Ave., when he recognized a man with an active warrant. The man was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
7:33 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the Mesa Verde Inn, 640 South Broadway, where a man reportedly was hanging on the car as it moved. Officers dealt with a dispute between a man and two women. No one was arrested.
11:45 p.m. An officer was dispatched the 700 block of South Broadway about a possible drunken driver. A suspected vehicle was later pulled over in the 700 block of West Seventh Street, and several open containers of alcoholic beverages were found in the car. The man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and cited for weaving in traffic and failing to present proof of valid insurance. He was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
Friday, Sept. 27
12 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., on a shoplifting call. A man was issued a summons for shoplifting.
12:54 p.m. An officer was in the 200 block of South Madison Street when he saw a man he recognized as having active warrants. A man was arrested on five active warrants and was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
3:14 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Family Dollar, 324 S. Broadway, about a disturbance. An employee showed the officer video surveillance of a woman and two juveniles suspected of shoplifting and a confrontation with an employee who approached them at the exit. The party was later found to be staying at Mesa Verde Inn. The woman was issued a summons for harassment and theft.
3:58 p.m. An officer was in the City Market parking lot, 508 E. Main St., where he recognized a man with an active warrant for his arrest. The man was intoxicated. He was arrested and taken to Southwest Memorial Hospital for medical clearance and left in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.
5:33 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Mesa Verde Inn, 640 South Broadway, on a welfare check. A man and a woman were arguing in a room when the officer arrived. The man was arrested for violating a protection order. The man was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
10:18 p.m. An officer was on West Main Street at Chestnut Street when he observed a car with no lights on. The vehicle was pulled over in the 100 block of Main Street. A woman with bloodshot eyes who told officers she had drunk two margaritas was arrested on suspicion of DUI and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
Saturday, Sept. 28
1:23 p.m. An officer was patrolling in the 300 block of North Broadway when a dark-colored pickup pulled in front of him and he had to brake to avert a collision. The pickup was stopped at West Seventh Street and South Broadway. The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
2:49 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Speedway gas station, 2021 E. Main St., about a fight in progress. A man was with a group of people when he and another man got in a dispute. One of the men said another man had hit him in the face and left. The man suspected of punching the man was located in Cortez City Park. The man was intoxicated and had a warrant banning him from consumption of alcohol. He was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
Sunday, Sept. 29
4:48 p.m. An officer was called to Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., about a report of a theft. An employee left her purse in a booth at Subway. Video surveillance shown to the officer shows a couple go to the booth, and the woman left with the purse. The man and woman in the video were identified and contacted by police officers. The purse was located and returned. The woman in the booth was issued a summons for theft.
Monday, Sept. 30
12:58 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., it issue an active warrant to a male inmate.
6:58 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the initial block of North Park Street about a report of a stolen wallet. A group was in dispute about payment for liquor at liquor stores and food from Taco Bell. One of the men in the group had an active warrant for his arrest. He was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
