Tuesday, Sept. 17

1:18 p.m. An officer dispatched to the initial block of West Main St. filed a report about a minor traffic accident.

5:26 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the 100 block of North Madison Street about a hit-and-run. A woman reported she was hit by a small beige pickup. The woman believed the driver might not have known he hit her because she was sitting on the curb behind the pickup. The woman said the accident happened at a slow speed, but she had pain in her back and left thigh. She also had scratches on each leg.

5:34 p.m. An officer on patrol near the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St., recognized a man who had an active warrant, arrested him and left him in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Wednesday, Sept. 18

8:11 p.m. An officer was called to the 100 block of S. Harrison about vandalism at the Community Connections Building. The deputy filed a report.

1 p.m. An officer in the 300 block of West Main Street pulled over a Honda Civic with expired license plates. The driver failed roadside sobriety checks and was issued a breath-analysis test, which showed a blood-alcohol level of 0.01. He was not issued a DUI citation.

9:32 p.m. An officer called to the Handy Mart Gas Station, 806 S. Broadway, about a man who could not pay his cab fare. The suspect had bloodshot eyes, and a check showed he had an active warrant for his arrest. He was arrested on the warrant and left in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.

10:50 p.m. An officer served an active warrant to a male inmate at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

Friday, Sept. 20

2:54 p.m. An officer southbound in the 200 block of South Sligo Street recognized a woman driver who had an active warrant. She was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

10:38 p.m. An officer in the 1000 block of Lebanon Road pulled over a car with a nonworking license plate lamp. The driver had an active warrant out of San Juan County, New Mexico. He was arrested and transported to Montezuma County Detention Center.

Saturday, Sept. 21

1:14 a.m. An officer was called to assist on a DUI call in the 600 block of South Market Street. The woman was issued a breath-analysis test that showed a blood-alcohol level of 0.134. Because it was her first offense, she was issued a summons for DUI and driven home.

11:57 a.m. An officer was called to City Market, 508 E. Main St., about a report of shoplifting. A man was issued a summons for shoplifting. He was ordered not to return to City Market on threat of being arrested for trespassing.

4:09 p.m. An officer filed a report about a minor traffic accident in the 600 block of West Third Street.

8:19 p.m. An officer stopped a driver whom he witnessed failing to stop at a stop sign at Empire Street and Mildred Road. The driver appeared intoxicated and failed several roadside sobriety tests. The driver was issued a breath-analysis that showed a blood-alcohol content of 0.141. The driver was arrested on driving under the influence and issued a summons for failing to stop at stop signal. He was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Sunday, Sept. 22

1:26 p.m. An officer was called U.S. Highway 160 near the Montezuma County Fairgrounds about a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the highway. The vehicle was stopped in the 500 block of Main St. The female driver declined to perform roadside sobriety checks and declined to be issued a breath-analysis test. She was arrested for DUI, failing to drive in a single lane and driving with a revoked license. She was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
