Tuesday, Aug. 20

6:07 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Walgreens, 1671 E. Main St., about a theft in progress. An employee pointed out a man whom he believed placed Mucinex in his pockets. The man did have the item in his pocket, and he was issued a summons for shoplifting and issued a trespass notice for Walgreens.

Wednesday, Aug. 21

1:57 a.m. An officer was called to the 200 block of E. Seventh St. about a disturbance. Three men said a drunken woman started a fight, then left. A check showed the suspected woman had been issued a protection order to stay away from one of the men, and the officer planned to write an arrest warrant for her on suspicion of third-degree assault.

4:32 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., about a suspected theft in progress. A woman was issued a municipal summons for shoplifting. After she paid for a bag of dog food, she was discovered to have left the store with a vitamin bottle and dog medication in her backpack, items for which she hadn’t paid.

Thursday, Aug.22

10:48 a.m. An officer was called to Centennial Park area, 515 N. Mildred Road, about a fight. One man was issued a summons for disturbing the peace. After an interview with several men the officer determined he had been throwing punches at another man. The man was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

11:06 a.m. An officer was dispatched to the Mesa Verde Inn, 640 S. Broadway, on a report that a man who had an active warrant was staying there. The man was arrested for a probation violation, and left in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.

Friday, Aug. 23

1:53 p.m. An officer was dispatched to City Market, 508 E. Main St., about a two-vehicle crash. A woman reported she was backing out of a parking space and did not see a passing vehicle. The officer issued the woman a summons for unsafe backing and filed a report about the crash.

11:17 p.m. An officer was alerted to a near accident in the McDonald’s parking lot, 1322 E. Main St., involving a driver in a Chevrolet Malibu who appeared intoxicated. The officer spotted the car traveling erratically, attempting to making a turn onto South Beech Street from the inside westbound lane rather than from the turning lane. The vehicle was stopped. A man driving the car was unable to complete roadside sobriety measures. He volunteered to take a breath analysis test that should a blood-alcohol content of 0.192. The man was arrested on suspicion of being intoxicated on narcotics. At Montezuma County Detention Center it was determined his license out of Texas was revoked and he had three prior convictions for driving under the influence. The man was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Monday, Aug. 26

4:23 a.m. An officer was dispatched to Walmart about a man who was acting strangely, screaming and attempting to start fights. The man was located in the 400 block of E. North St. He appeared to be intoxicated and was unsteady on his feet and slurring his words. The man was arrested for being an intoxicated pedestrian in the roadway. He was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
