Cortez will be one of six Southwestern cities and their public libraries to join an annual regional reading program called “Four Corners/One Book.” A ribbon-cutting ceremony, officiated by Cortez Mayor Karen Sheek, will announce the program at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 27 outside the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St.

Following the ceremony, an indoor event with author C. Joseph Greaves will take place. Various author events and public book discussions are also slated for January 2020.

The program aims to promote literacy, encourage dialogue and build community through the shared experience of story. Dolores, Mancos, Montrose, Ignacio and Moab, Utah, have selected “Church of the Graveyard Saints” by C. Joseph Greaves as the program’s inaugural title.
