It’s time for Cortez to get a real airline

As a frequent traveler I have experienced extreme duress flying with Boutique Airlines.

Among many issues, it’s impossible to talk with anyone except to make reservations. The “call line” says communication can only be done through emails, which they will relay; but after numerous requests, no response.

Boutique does not address issues and will not return calls!

With Boutique the only option, the city also needs to be accountable for their contracted provider.

Travelers have experienced delayed and canceled flights without prior notification; confirmation numbers that become invalid without explanation; mechanical issues, including an instance where tires on the plane flattened on take-off; re-routed flights; foul language in the cockpit; and a delay announcement in Denver that the pilot was waiting for an Uber car.

We even experienced a flight with no co-pilot.

These incidences have caused great duress, missed connections and major cost for resulting hotel bills.

We have purchased many 10-pack flight vouchers. Boutique has yet to refund flight costs for issues they alone have caused.

The increased travel and expansion at Durango is partially due to the inadequacy of our city to provide a professional, accountable and reliable airline.

It is time to improve our airport and bring in a real airline that will facilitate travel from Cortez, bring in more business people and increase city and county revenue.

I intend to start a petition to encourage the city to take action.
