Our grandmother and uncle died from this disease. Now we are watching our mother die from it. It is so hard to watch someone you love, who was so full of life, loving and giving, become someone who doesn’t remember that you are their child.

Our mother is reaching the end of this terrible disease. It is so hard to watch her mind and body deteriorate daily.

One in every six people will come down with Alzheimer’s. Please help us stamp out this disease.

I’m participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Cortez City Park. By joining us, you can help end this epidemic and show your support for the more than five million Americans living with the disease.

Sponsorships are available for the local walk. Please consider joining me there or making a contribution to the Alzheimer’s Association. I can be reached at 970-759-6779 or you can call Vista Mesa at 970-564-1888. Donations can be sent directly to the regional office at: Alzheimer’s Association, Attn: 2019 Cortez Walk, Elaine Stumpo, Regional Director, P.O. Box 3195, Durango, CO 81302.
