A woman injured about 10:50 a.m. Sunday while mountain biking in Horse Gulch was taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center.

The woman suffered a leg injury that is not life-threatening, said Ron Corkish, spokesman with La Plata County Search and Rescue. The woman was aided by people who were biking with her and other people who were on the popular hiking and mountain biking trail, Corkish said.

“There were a lot of people on the trail at the time, and she received a lot of help. That’s the nature of La Plata County,” Corkish said.

The identity of the woman, 51, was not given by Corkish. Also, Corkish did not know about the nature of the woman’s injuries other than they were not life-threatening.

About a 16 emergency responders from La Plata County Search and Rescue and Durango Fire Protection District assisted at the scene.
