Library to celebrate end of summer reading program

The Cortez Library will celebrate the end of summer reading Aug. 2 with prizes and a movie.

Cortez Public Library will celebrate the end of their summer reading program all day Aug. 2 at the library, 202 N. Park St.

The celebration will include a prize drawing, handing out of reward badges, refreshments and the movie “A Wrinkle in Time” at 1 p.m. Participants need not be present to win prizes.

The Cortez Public Library would like to thank sponsor Golden Dreams, under Onward! a Legacy Foundation for its funding that allowed the library to offer summer reading activities. The library also thanks McDonald’s for providing Happy Meal bookmarks and Papa Murphy’s for supplying cookie dough and Mini Murph kit certificates.

The library also thanks children who participated and improved their reading skills.

Those attending who are caring for a young child of a family member, friend or neighbor in a home setting, will receive a free bag full of early-literacy materials with ideas, books and toys that help children learn. The program is targeted to infants to 6-year-olds and is free to all participants.
