The 60th annual Mancos Days celebration is on the horizon.
The three-day event has a full lineup, with activities ranging from sports tournaments to a pancake breakfast to the traditional parade. The Friends of the Mancos Library will hold the group’s biggest book sale of the year, with used and donated books of all genres available all three days in the Mancos Public Library.
This year’s Mancos Days – themed “All you need is love” – will be held July 26-28.
“It’s a very cultural thing that we’ve done for 60 years now,” said Elecia Bellmire, treasurer of the Mancos Days nonprofit. “We don’t want it to go away.”
She and two others formed the nonprofit a few years ago to make sure the traditional celebration remained vibrant. Last year, the nonprofit gave away five $1,000 donations to local groups and projects. Interested volunteers or advertisers are invited to check out the event website.
