A La Plata County official on Monday confirmed a Durango woman died by suicide on July 4.

Jill Rebakah Williamson was at her home in Durango when she was found dead, said Coroner Jann Smith.

No foul play is suspected.

Williamson, 40, worked at Creature Comforts for about nine weeks before her death, said co-owner Alan Lloyd.

“She was with us a short time,” he said. “She seemed to be somebody who really loved interacting with our customers and our coworkers. She was very social.”

He said she had positive energy, and she loved animals and talking to customers about their animals.

“She was always looking forward to the weekend and looking forward to any time we fired up the barbecue grill here in the back of the store.”

Efforts to locate family members were not immediately successful.

Smith said Williamson’s death is the eighth reported suicide this year in La Plata County. The ages of those who have died are: 21, 26, 30, 35, 39, 40, 57 and 57.
