Cortez City Council will consider two construction bids for a proposed waterline project at its bimonthly meeting tonight.
Records show the city’s estimated project cost was $419,275. Grand Junction-based Oldcastle SW Group submitted a $599,030 bid, and Norwood-based Williams Construction Contractors submitted a $461,954 bid. Officials have recommended approval of the lowest bid.
About 4,700 feet of new water lines is slated to upgrade services on East Main Street between Veach and Cactus streets; Sligo Street from Main Street to Montezuma Avenue; East Empire Street; Beach Street from Main to First streets; and Stratton Drive.
According to public works director Jack Nickerson, water service will be preserved during the project, and temporary water services will be provided to residents affected by the project.
Other items on the council agenda include awarding a concrete cost-share project, authorizing the execution of stipulations and change applications of city water rights, and to renew Beacon Wellness Group’s medical marijuana cultivation license.
Open to the public, the city council meeting at City Hall starts at 7:30 p.m. today.
