12:26 p.m. A deputy responded to a reckless driving complaint in the city of Cortez. The deputy located the suspect vehicle near the Ute Mountain Casino Hotel & Resort in the initial block of Weeminuche Drive. The man who had reported the issue told the Sheriff’s Office that he had pulled up alongside the men in a Ford SUV on Main Street, in Cortez, and the two men waived a gun and yelled at him. The men were acting aggressively toward the man. Two Bureau of Indian Affairs officer already had the two suspect men in Ford SUV in custody. The deputy discovered an AR-15 in the Ford. In addition, the vehicle turned out to be stolen out of New Mexico. The vehicle was towed to the Montezuma County Sheriff’s impound yard.
Monday, June 24
3:54 p.m. A deputy issued two outstanding warrants for failure to appear to a male inmate at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
Tuesday, June 25
11:12 p.m. A deputy was dispatched to check on a former inmate of the Montezuma County Jail who failed to register as a sex offender. More than a month after his release, the man had failed to register. The deputy has submitted a warrant affidavit for the arrest of the suspect for failing to register as a sex offender.
5:25 p.m. A deputy was dispatched to 27700 block of County Road M about a report of dogs attacking sheep. The deputy discovered at six dead sheep and another that was euthanized. The owner said several other sheep might die because they are sensitive. The deputy attempted to find the suspected dogs, white German shepherds, by contacting neighbors.

11:19 a.m. A deputy served an active warrant for failure to appear to an inmate at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St.
4:21 p.m. A deputy served an active warrant for failure to comply to a female inmate of Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
Thursday, June 27
4:04 p.m. A deputy responded to a report that a neighbor was harassing his dogs, which were chained in a yard, in the 100 block of North Third Street in Dolores. The deputy was attempting to contact the neighbor to work out a solution between them.
8:24 p.m. A deputy issued a warrant for failure to appear to a female inmate at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
11:15 p.m. A deputy issued a warrant for failure to appear to a female inmate at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
Friday, June 28
3:19 a.m. A deputy was called to the 25300 block of County Road G about a disturbance in progress. A woman said a man had kneed her and hit her with a propane tank after he accused her stealing his marijuana. The deputy submitted an arrest warrant for the man.
2:50 p.m. A deputy was called to a Base Camp Convenience Store, 1110 Railroad Avenue, in Dolores for an animal welfare check. A man was arrested on an outstanding warrant on failure to appear. His dog was left with the Cortez Animal Shelter, and he was left in the custody of Montezuma County Detention Center. The man called a family member to pick up the dog at the animal shelter.
5:46 p.m. A deputy was called to the Cox Corner Store, 18794 U.S. Highway 491, about a fight. The call was unfounded, but a man was arrested on two outstanding warrants. He was left in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.
9:54 p.m. A deputy was called to investigate suspect activity in the 18400 block of County Road 27, near Dolores. A woman was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear. She was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
Saturday, June 29
1:23 p.m. A deputy was called to Lighthouse Baptist Church, 11502 Colorado Highway 145, about a report of vandalism. Three windows had been broken at the church. The incident was believed to have occurred between 7 p.m. Friday, June 28, and 10 a.m. Saturday, June 29. No other evidence of who broke the windows was found.
7:21 p.m. A deputy was called to the 23000 block of County Road G about a structure fire. The residents said the electrical power “popped,” then power was lost. They tried resetting the breaker box. When Empire Electric Co. staff arrived, they noticed a burning smell from the wiring. Cortez Fire Protection District reported nothing suspicious about the incident.
8:38 p.m. A deputy was patrolling near Colorado Highway 145 and U.S. Colorado Highway 184 when he witnessed a sedan with a broken license plate lamp. The deputy stopped the vehicle and issued a summons to the woman who was driving for driving without a valid driver’s license and driving a vehicle with a revoked license.
11:04 p.m. A deputy was called to the 8200 U.S. Highway 160 about a report of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was located at a residence nearby. The man in the residence said he had permission to use the vehicle, a red 1990 Toyota 4-Runner. The reporting party did not wish to press charges.
Sunday, June 30
4:11 p.m. A deputy was called to the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., about a reported assault. A male inmate was issued a summons for third-degree assault. Another inmate reported he had been hit while showering just as he put shampoo on his head. He got soap in his eye, and said he could not see for a few seconds, but he thought he had hit his assailant in the chest. The man said the other inmate then hit him a few more times. The inmate had a cut on the bottom of his chin and swelling and redness around his left eye and a bump on the back of his head. Emergency medical technicians examined the inmate, who worried he had a concussion. The EMTs told the inmate he did not have a concussion.
Tuesday, July 2
11:18 a.m. A female inmate at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., was served a warrant for failure to appear.
