Wednesday, June 12

12:31 p.m. A man reportedly left Safeway, 1580 E. Main St., after placing beer in a backpack. The man was located near the Montezuma-Cortez High School but fled. The man was issued a summons for trespassing and resisting arrest and was left in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.

11:12 p.m. An officer on foot patrol in Centennial Park, 800 E. Montezuma Ave., spotted and arrested a man who had an active arrest warrant. At Montezuma County Detention Center, a breath analysis showed his blood-alcohol content was 0.378.

Thursday, June 13

2:17 p.m. An officer was called to Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., about a shoplifting in progress. A man was arrested on an active warrant out of Phoenix, and a woman was arrested for shoplifting. Both were left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center. Two other people were believed to be operating together while shoplifting but were not located.

4:28 p.m. An officer assisting another officer on an unrelated call in the 1700 block of E. Seventh Street arrested a man for an active felony warrant. He was left in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.

Friday, June 14

12:28 a.m. An officer was called to the Cozy Inn, 440 S. Broadway, about a report of a theft. A man claimed a woman had stolen $40 from his wallet.

7:28 a.m. A male driver as cited for careless driving after hitting a vehicle while making a U-turn at 10 Main St.

11:32 p.m. An officer in the 400 block of E. Main Street, recognized and arrested a woman who had an active warrant. She was left in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.

Saturday, June 15

3:14 a.m. An officer was called to the 600 block of N. Broadway about a fight in progress. Two men and a woman were walking in the road, and the men were pushing each other. All three people were arrested and cited for being intoxicated in the roadway. One man kicked an officer in the thigh.

9:34 a.m. A man discovered hit-and-run damage to his Ford F-250 at the Econolodge, 2020 E. Main St. An officer viewed a surveillance video that showed an older white Ford Bronco hit the pickup about 2:30 a.m. and left the parking lot.

10:27 a.m. A woman was arrested on a warrant at Centennial Park, 802 E. Main St., and left in the custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

10:44 a.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of assault and theft of a backpack in Centennial Park, 802 E. Main St. A breath-analysis at the Montezuma County Detention Center showed a BAC of 0.307. He was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

10:48 a.m. An officer a bicycle patrol of Centennial Park, 802 E. Main St., arrested a man for possessing an open container of alcohol in the park and left him in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.

Sunday, June 16

12:30 a.m. A man was arrested for felony menacing in the 800 block of S. Broadway after apparently brandishing a BB gun during a dispute about how long a man could stay on a property. He was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

6:52 p.m. An officer assisted another officer on a report of a drunken person in the initial A woman was issued a summons and arrested in the block of N. Park St. for having an open container of an alcoholic beverage. She was left in the custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

7:21 p.m. A vehicle collided with an open door of another vehicle in the 100 block of E. Main St. No injuries were reported.

11:06 p.m. A male inmate at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., was served a warrant.

Sunday, June 16

1:31 a.m. An officer on patrol in the 400 block of W. Montezuma Ave. recognized a man who was walking unsteadily north in the southbound lane. The man was arrested for violating a protection order barring consumption of alcohol. The man could not be issued a blood-alcohol test because he passed out. He was left in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.

4:42 a.m. A trucker who was attempting to turn around in Montezuma-Cortez High School parking lot, 418 Silgo St., hit a light pole with the trailer, knocking the pole over. The driver said he would get an estimate for repair of the pole and get back to him.

7:04 p.m. An officer was called to Wendy’s, 221 E. Main St., after a man threw a half-eaten hamburger at an employee. The man was arrested for disturbing the peace, and a breath-analysis test showed a BAC of 0.2. The man was left in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.

7:34 p.m. An officer was called to the 10 block of S. Madison Street about a possible break-in. The officer saw an old camper with the door pried open. No one was in the camper, but the camper’s contents were in disarray, and it appeared someone had been eating a box of chicken in it.

Monday, June 17

2:36 p.m. A woman was issued a summons for shoplifting at City Market, 508 E. Main St.

5:55 p.m. An officer assisted a driver who hit a deer near the 1000 block of N. Broadway.

9:34 p.m. A disorderly man at City Market, 508 E. Main St., was arrested for trespassing and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Tuesday, June 18

2:43 p.m. A man who had a parole hold placed on him was located near the 1200 block of N. Dolores Road and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

4:36 p.m. A woman with two active warrants was arrested at Dollar Tree, 1600 E Main St. and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

5:02 p.m. An officer was called to Parque de Vida on a welfare check. A man was arrested for an open container of alcohol in the park. He was issued a summons, which he signed “Bullsht.” The man was escorted off the baseball fields.

11:58 p.m. An officer was westbound in the 300 block of West Third Street, when he observed a vehicle fail to signal for a left turn. The vehicle also had expired license plates. A woman passenger in the vehicle was arrested on an outstanding warrant. She was left in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.
