The Town of Mancos is looking for residents to reactivate its tree board.
"We need four town citizens and one county resident within the Mancos School District to serve on this important board," said Mancos Town Administrator Andrea Phillips.
Once established, the board will include one three-year appointment, two two-year appointments and two one-year appointments, Phillips said. The alternating terms are designed to prevent burnout, while at the same time assuring continuity.
The volunteer board will be charged with developing and administering a comprehensive tree management program. The board will specifically be responsible for studying, investigating, counseling and developing a written plan for the care, preservation, trimming, planting, replanting, removal or disposition of trees and shrubs in public ways, streets, alleys and parks, Phillips said.
Open to any volunteer resident, tree-related professionals such as forestry professors, nursery operators and arborists are encouraged to submit a letter of interest to Town Hall by 5 p.m. on July 3.
