On Saturday, the Mancos Valley Arts Council will host the first-ever Great Mancos Arts Roundup from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The event has been advertised far and wide and organizers expect people from across the Four Corners to come and enjoy art in the shadow of Mesa Verde.

Two dozen artists have registered to show in a variety of galleries and personal studios. Many of them will be doing demonstrations on lots of different techniques from copper enameling to silk batik and much more.

Here’s who is participating and where to see their work and their techniques.

Downtown at Artisans will be Ginny Getts, paintings; Janice Reich, gourd masks; Amy Grogan, woodcuts, cards and tees, and Milt Beens, paintings and pottery.

Next door at Painted Turtle, visit Kim Sheek, pottery, and newcomer to Mancos, Shanna Bender, jewelry.

Cross the street for Raven House, visit with Patricia Burk, photography, and jewelers Marilyn Kroeker and Carol Van der Harten.

Stop in at Goodnight Gallery to view Susan Matteson’s paintings.

Jay Fann’s workshop will be open (in the alley behind Goodnight Gallery) to watch his woodcarving techniques.

Dian Law will be showing batik techniques on silk scarves at the Visitors’ Center on Bauer.

Lynne Clay will be at Fahrenheit.

Lora Hover will be showing her copper and stained glass at Enchanted Mesa (corner of Grand and Monte).

Head south to Road G and visit Deb Doty’s studio and see her painting.

Then go east to the studio of Rob and Mary Wilson, gourd artists, at 277 E. First.

Go over to June McCartney’s studio on Road 46 (Elk Springs Ranch) right off 160 going east.

Then turn around and head up 184 for the “Northwest Gang,” which includes Jan Wright, watercolorist; Kelly Kilgore Chilcott, native art collector and trader; Brian Killigrew, photographer; Janet Lever-Wood, potter; Collette Webster and Brian Kyle, showing together, pottery and painting; Patsy Davis, sculptor, and Patty Russell, master beader.

Maps for all of these locations will be available at the visitors center on the day of the event.

The VC is headquarters for the Roundup all day Saturday.
