After stellar seasons on the baseball diamond, Dove Creek High School first baseman Klancey Krafta and outfielder Tyler Ebberts were selected to participate in the 1A/2A All-State baseball game, held at Bishop-Machebeu High School, in Denver.
Both players competed on the Northwest Team, which narrowly edged the Southeast Team by a score of 3-2.
In his only at-bat, Krafta drew a walk. Ebberts batted twice, and although he was held hitless, his first at-bat resulted in a sharp line drive to center, which was caught on an outstanding play by the Southeast Team’s center fielder. Both Krafta and Ebberts played in the field and neither player recorded an error.
Krafta and Ebberts put up outstanding stats over the course of their senior seasons and played integral roles in the Dove Creek baseball team’s success.
Krafta finished second in the state in batting with an average of .633. He also hit three home runs, nine doubles, three triples and recorded 28 RBIs. Ebberts finished the season with a .481 batting average. In addition, he hit eight doubles, one triple, and drove in 19 runs. Dove Creek baseball coach, Ken Soper, noted that in addition to his offensive contributions, Ebberts played exceptional defense in the outfield and made several outstanding plays over the course of the season.
Soper complimented Krafta and Ebberts on their work ethic and thanked them for their dedication to the Dove Creek baseball program. Both players graduated from Dove Creek High School on May 22.
