The Department of Labor is hosting an outreach event in Farmington, N.M., to assist claimants who may be eligible for benefits under the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA), which is set up to assist qualified uranium workers who were employed at a Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) Section 5 uranium mine, uranium mill or ore buying station at any time between Jan. 1, 1942, and Dec. 31, 1971.
Those workers and their survivors may be entitled to federal compensation and medical benefits.
Department of Labor representatives will be at the Courtyard Hotel (Marriot), 560 Scott Ave., in Farmington, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, June 4 and 5.
