In support of Child Abuse Prevention Month, pinwheels sprouted up at some Cortez elementary schools in April.

Pinwheels have come to symbolize innocence or childhood, and are used to support child abuse prevention efforts.

The April pinwheel campaign was held in conjunction with the Four Corners Child Advocacy Center, a local nonprofit devoted to preventing child abuse and supporting children who have been abused. As part of the effort, students also learned about body safety.
