The Cortez United Methodist Women will host their annual luncheon at noon May 9, at the Cortez First United Methodist Church, 515 North Park St. A program on antibiotic abuse will be presented by the head pharmacist at the Southwest Memorial Hospital in Cortez.

Marc Meyer is a nationally recognized expert in combating the abuse of antibiotics. He serves on advisory committees for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Pew Charitable Trust. Meyer will talk about how antibiotic abuse is being controlled at the hospital and in local nursing homes.

Meyer will provide visuals to help explain what can be a complicated subject and clearly illustrate the success at the hospital in reducing abuse of antibiotics.

The salad buffet luncheon is free, but an RSVP is requested by May 6 to get an accurate count for meal preparation. RSVP to Eleanor Kuhl at 564-0708 or ekuhl@frontier.net.
