The next USDA surplus food commodity distribution will be on Saturday, May 4, at these locations:
Cortez: Montezuma County Fairgrounds, 30100 Highway 160, 7:30 to 8 a.m.
Dolores: Fire Hall, 45 Railroad Ave., 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.
Mancos: United Methodist Church, 470 Grand Ave., 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.
Items to be distributed will be leftovers from the warehouse in Colorado Springs.
Recipients unable to attend the giveaway can authorize someone else to pick up their commodities by giving that person their commodity card and a note.
Commodity cards can be obtained at these places and times:
Cortez Senior Services Office in the Montezuma County Annex, 107 N. Chestnut, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesdays.
Dolores Community Center, 400 Riverside, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesdays.
Mancos Masonic Lodge Senior Center, 141 E. Montezuma, 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesdays.
Applicants must provide proof of income, proof of physical address, and a Social Security number for the head of the household, as well as a coy of a driver's license or state-issued ID card. One card will be issued per household.
Income limits are $1,772 for one person, $2,333 for two, $2,943 for a family of three. Add $611 for each additional family member.
