Cortez and Dolores high school students were decked out in bow ties, gowns and heels this weekend, with both school districts holding senior prom on Saturday night.

The Montezuma-Cortez High School dance, themed “A Black Tie Affair,” kicked off at 8 p.m. with the Grand March in the Ralph E. Vavak Theatre.

Dolores secondary students, meanwhile, had their event at the Elks Lodge in Cortez, since their own high school gym recently flooded. Their Grand March began at 7:30 p.m., partially timed to avoid conflicting with the M-CHS prom, as some students were attending both events.
