LAURA GEORGE, at the lectern, describes a $7,206 contribution to K-9 Search and Rescue of Dolores from the Michael George Kyle Kerschen Search Aid foundation, which will help fund equipment, training and supplies. Receiving the contribution are K-9 SAR members Chuck Melvin (with Kevlar), Mike Klinger and Donna Tessler (with Axle).

The K-9 Search and Rescue Team, based in Dolores, recently attended the Challenge Awards Banquet in Albuquerque and were presented with a $7,206 donation from the Michael George Kyle Kerschen Search Aid Foundation. That amount included funds from the Foundation and proceeds of a silent auction held during the banquet.

The Foundation honors the memories of Michael George and Kyle Kerschen, two young men lost while snowboarding at Wolf Creek Ski Area in January 2008. The foundation also honors the efforts of New Mexico and Colorado communities and their generous donations of time and treasure to support the George and Kerschen families and their friends.

Both human and canine members of the team traveled to Albuquerque on April 12 for the ceremony.

Based in Dolores, K-9 Search and Rescue Team Inc. is a non-profit organization with no tax base. K-9 SAR depends solely on donations, grants, and fundraisers for support. The team is sincerely grateful to the foundation for its support, which will help with the cost of equipment, training and supplies.
