Tuesday, March 19

3:48 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 500 block of East Montezuma Ave. on a warrant for failure to appear.

8:37 p.m.: A woman was arrested at Cork and Bottle, 443 E. Main St., on a warrant for failure to appear.

9:15 p.m.: A woman was arrested near E. North St. and N. Beech St. on suspicion of stealing a jar of Apple Pie Moonshine, valued at $22.89, from the Cork and Bottle liquor store, 443 E. Main St. She was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital because of intoxication, then left at the Montezuma County Detention Center.

Wednesday, March 20

4:24 a.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of first-degree criminal trespass and violating an alcohol-related protection order after allegedly trying to break into a home in the 100 block of N. Adams St. Officers caught up with him as he walked into a tree while attempting to leave the scene. The man was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital because of intoxication, then jailed at the Montezuma County Detention Center. While in his cell, he apparently bloodied his finger while pounding on the door. He was restrained in a chair for his safety.

3:29 p.m.: A woman was pulled over in the 400 block of S. Broadway because of a cracked windshield and cited with driving with a canceled license, failing to present proof of insurance, no registration and obstructed vision. Her male passenger was arrested on a warrant.

Thursday, March 21

11:06 a.m.: An intoxicated man was arrested for violated a protection order barring him from consuming alcohol as he lay on a sidewalk at City Market, 508 E. Main St. He was cleared for jail at Southwest Memorial Hospital.

2:31 p.m.: A woman who allegedly had been drinking at Taste of India, 1013 E. Main St. was arrested for violating a protection order barring consumption of alcohol after she an another woman left the packing lot in a car. The female driver was cited for driving with a canceled license.

3:58 p.m.: A woman was cited for following too closely after her Ford sedan rear-ended a Nissan sedan on E. Main St. at Harrison St. A tow truck then rear-ended her Ford, which again hit the Nissan.

4:24 p.m.: A man was arrested in the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St., on suspicion of trespass and resisting arrest. He refused medical examination for intoxication at Southwest Memorial Hospital and allegedly resisted officers while being searched and jailed at the Montezuma County Detention Center.

10:22 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 400 block of E. Third St. on suspicion of being intoxicated in the roadway and resisting arrest. He refused treatment for intoxication at Southwest Memorial Hospital and was taken to the Montezuma County Detention Center.

Friday, March 22

7:40 a.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of trespass at Southwest Memorial Hospital, 1311 N. Mildred Road, after he reported that he was being chased by an armed man who was hiding in a field outside. An officer determined that no one was in the field, and the man had been drinking alcohol. The man was trespassed from the hospital except for medical emergencies and was taken to the Montezuma County Detention Center.

9:19 a.m.: A driver at the Hampton Inn, 2244 Hawkins St., backed her vehicle into a parked vehicle.

4:36 p.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of trespass at the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St.

Saturday, March 23

8:49 a.m.: A man was arrested at Denny’s restaurant, 2059 E. Main St. on suspicion of falsely reporting his identification to authorities and violating a protection order barring him from consuming alcohol. Denny’s asked that he be trespassed from the restaurant because he did not pay for his meal.

Sunday, March 24

22:36 p.m.: A driver was pulled over in the City Market parking lot, 508 E. Main St., for an expired license plate and was arrested on an outstanding warrant. She was cited with failing to provide proof of insurance, displaying expired license plates, driving with a revoked license as a habitual traffic offender and falsely reporting her identification to authorities. A records check revealed she had a prior DUI conviction.

Monday, March 25

1:10 a.m.: A driver who was pulled over in the 500 block of E. Main St. was arrested on two warrants from Cortez and a felony warrant from New Mexico.

7:03 p.m.: A man driving a minivan with Utah plates who had been reported driving while intoxicated on U.S. Highway 160 near Towaoc was arrested for DUI after entering the LivWell store at 1810 E. Main St. He was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital for intoxication and taken to the Montezuma County Detention Center, where he was placed on felony hold for three or more DUI convictions, careless driving and driving an uninsured vehicle.

Tuesday, March 26

2:42 p.m.: The Cortez Cardlock Conoco, 110 N. Broadway, reported that a man and woman left the station without paying for $150.17 worth of fuel. The Monticello Port of Entry and Colorado State Patrol were alerted that the driver was in a tractor with a silver box trailer and bore the name “Far Transportation.”

3:40 p.m.: A man who was trying to buy firearms at Slavens True Value, 237 W. Main St., was arrested on two warrants.

4:18 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 1100 block of E. Main St. on a warrant for failure to appear.

4:57 p.m.: An intoxicated man was arrested at City Market, 508 E. Main St., on three warrants and for violating a protection order barring consumption of alcohol. He was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital for intoxication, then was re-evaluated after he fell from a wheelchair and hit his head.

11:40 p.m.: A man and woman in a gray flatbed pickup truck were pulled over on S. Veach St. after a report that they had stolen $87.62 in goods from Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. The woman was cited for shoplifting, and both were trespassed from Walmart. The man was cited fordriving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured vehicle and displaying expired license plates.
