CHUCK MELVIN speaks on behalf of the Dolores K9 Search and Rescue recently after receiving a grant.

Recently, the K-9 Search and Rescue Team, based in Dolores, attended The Challenge awards banquet in Albuquerque, N.M. and were presented with a donation from the The Michael George Kyle Kerschen Search Aid Foundation.

On Friday, April 12, both human and canine members of the team travelled down to Albuquerque with their response vehicle and trailer and were presented with a donation for $7,206.

This generous amount included funds directly from the Foundation itself and from proceeds of a silent auction held during the banquet.

The Foundation honors the memories of Michael George and Kyle Kerschen, two young men lost while snowboarding at Wolf Creek Ski area in January of 2008.

The foundation also honors the great efforts of New Mexico and Colorado communities and their generous donations of time and treasure to support the George and Kerschen families and the friends of Michael and Kyle.

The Team wishes to express its sincere gratitude to the Foundation for continuing to support K-9 Search and Rescue Team with the cost of equipment, training and supplies.

Based in Dolores, K-9 Search and Rescue Team Inc. is a non-profit organization with no tax base that depends solely on donations, grants and fund raisers for support.
