Montezuma-Cortez schools may be on spring break this week, but there’s still plenty for young people to do.
The Piñon Project is hosting a series of activities over the course of the week, for students from 7 to 17 years old.
All activities and expeditions will begin at the nonprofit at 210 E. Main St. in Cortez.
On Monday, young people were invited to a run hike tour from 1-2 p.m., followed by Frisbee from 2:30-4:30 p.m. and a 30-minute debrief.
On Tuesday, the Piñon Project will take students to Arches National Park for an all-day trip from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
Wednesday’s schedule will kick off with basketball from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by an Osprey tour from 1:30-3 p.m. and then team-building activities at Piñon from 3:15-5 p.m.
On Thursday, students will head to Moose & More for a tour from 11 a.m. to noon, and then go bowling from 12:30-3 p.m.
Later that night, young people are invited to a musical performance at Montezuma-Cortez High School from 7-9 p.m., featuring vocal quartet 7th Ave.
Concert tickets cost $25 for adults and $10 for youth, on sale at 6:40 p.m. Fifty free student tickets and 10 free teacher tickets will available at the front door.
The concert will take place in the Ralph E. Vavak auditorium at the high school.
And on Friday, young people can play tennis from 10 a.m. to noon, and then go for a hike at Hawkins Preserve from 2-5 p.m.
For those not attending any of the events, movies and games will happen in the Piñon Project’s activity room from 1-5 p.m. every day, with snacks provided.
