It was 0-0 at halftime.

But the second half was a nightmare for the Lady Panthers soccer team last Saturday.

Jefferson Academy scored three goals in the final 40 minutes on its home field at Broomfield.

Montezuma-Cortez High School went onto lose the Jefferson Academy Soccer Showdown, 3-0.

Mollie Heitman, Alycia Wright and Ally Thimsen each scored for the 3A Lady Jaguars (3-2). Jefferson Academy goalkeeper Maddie Lewis shutout M-CHS (2-4-2), who has lost three straight matches.

The Lady Panthers will try to get back on the winning track Friday and Saturday. M-CHS hosts Southwestern League foes Montrose and Grand Junction Central at 3 p.m. and 11 a.m. at Johnson Field.
