Plans for a major motel development here were revealed this week by Tom and Mary LaFrance who recently moved here from Del Rio, Texas and are now living in the old Berry home on North Ninth Street. The new motel will be called "El Benando" or "the buck deer" which was selected because LaFrance killed a very large buck in House Canyon here in 1960. He has been hunting here for many years and the couple said they are very fond of this area. A large office and living space will be built facing the highway on the corner of Seventh street and Highway 145. Behind this and to the northeast will be a 10-unit building to start with. They hope to have this expanded before summer is over and eventually may build as much as 30 to 40 units.
